About the Interior Design Course

Every interior project starts with one question: how will this space be used? An interior design course teaches you to answer it methodically, then to build a design that looks right as well as working well.

Space planning sets out the layout and how people move through a room. Design concepts give each project a clear idea to follow. Colour, materials and finishes decide how a space feels and how well it lasts, while furniture determines how it is actually lived in. Visual composition brings balance and focus, and functional design keeps every choice tied to the needs of the people using the space.

Design development is where these pieces meet: an early sketch is tested, revised and resolved into a buildable design. Presentation then turns that design into drawings, boards and visuals that a client or team can understand.

What Students Learn in Interior Design

Space Planning

Every project starts with the floor plan. You learn to measure a space, divide it into zones and plan circulation so that people move through it comfortably. Good planning is often invisible, which is exactly the point.

Interior Design Concepts

A strong interior follows one clear idea. Here you learn to turn research, references and a client's needs into a concept that guides every later choice, from the layout to the smallest detail.

Colour & Visual Composition

Why does one room feel calm and another crowded? This area covers colour schemes, balance, proportion and focal points, and how each changes the way a space is perceived.

Materials & Finishes

Wood, stone, fabric, metal, tile and paint all behave differently. You compare how surfaces look, feel and wear over time, and learn to match each material to its use, its setting and the budget.

Furniture & Spatial Elements

Furniture decides how a room is lived in. You study scale, placement and comfort, along with the fixtures and built-in elements that give a space its structure.

Design Development

First ideas rarely survive unchanged. Design development is the work of testing options, responding to feedback and refining a concept until it is resolved and ready to build.

Creative Problem Solving

Low ceilings, awkward corners, limited daylight, a fixed budget: real spaces come with constraints. You learn to treat them as design problems with more than one good answer.

Presentation of Design Ideas

A design has to be understood before it can be built. You learn to present your work through drawings, mood boards, material boards and visuals, and to talk others through your decisions.
